Medical & Healthcare Writing Portfolio

The Complicated Stuff, Made Considerably Less Complicated

Medical content has a tricky job.

It needs to be accurate without being impenetrable. Informative without overwhelming the reader. Evidence-based without reading like somebody copied and pasted the abstract from a clinical paper and called it a day.

That’s where I come in.

I’m a specialist freelance health and medical content writer with experience creating content across a very wide range of healthcare topics, audiences and formats.

From answering the health questions people are frantically Googling at 2am to explaining complex treatments and medications, I turn reliable medical information into clear, engaging content that meets readers where they are.

Below, you can explore some examples of my published medical and healthcare work.

Past and present happy clients include:

Health Information People Can Actually Understand

I’ve written extensively for patient and consumer audiences, translating complicated health information into content that is accurate, accessible and genuinely useful.

My medical writing experience includes:

  • Symptoms and health conditions
  • Medicines and treatments
  • Sexual and reproductive health
  • Contraception
  • Pregnancy and postpartum health
  • Mental health
  • Weight management
  • Nutrition
  • Dental health
  • Dermatology
  • Men’s and women’s health
  • Diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Surgery and recovery
  • Chronic conditions
  • Veterinary health

And quite a lot more.

At this point, there aren’t many body parts I haven’t written about.

Evidence First. Always.

Health content isn’t somewhere you can afford to play fast and loose with the facts.

When I research medical content, I prioritise reputable sources such as peer-reviewed research, clinical guidelines, systematic reviews and trusted healthcare organisations.

But finding reliable evidence is only half the job.

The other half is understanding it, identifying what matters to the reader and communicating it without losing the nuance along the way.

Because “making medical information accessible” shouldn’t mean stripping out all the important bits until the answer is technically easy to understand but no longer particularly useful.

My aim is always to find the balance: accurate enough to earn trust, accessible enough to be understood and engaging enough that somebody actually finishes reading it.

Different Readers Need Different Content

Someone researching a new diagnosis needs something very different from a healthcare professional reading about a treatment.

Likewise, a nervous patient preparing for surgery probably doesn’t need the same tone as somebody casually reading a wellness article over their morning coffee.

That’s why I don’t have one fixed “medical writing voice”.

Depending on the project, I can write content that’s:

  • Warm and reassuring
  • Clear and educational
  • Conversational and approachable
  • Professional and authoritative
  • Sensitive and empathetic
  • Technical and clinically focused
  • SEO-led while still sounding like it was written for a human

I consider what the reader already knows, what they need to know and how they might be feeling when they arrive on the page.

Sometimes the reader wants information.

Sometimes they want reassurance.

Usually, they need a bit of both.

Can’t See Your Topic?

Don’t worry.

My public portfolio is only a fraction of the health and medical content I’ve written.

A significant amount of my work is ghostwritten, produced through agencies or covered by confidentiality agreements, which means I can’t plaster it all over my website – no matter how much I’d sometimes like to.

So, if you need a writer with experience in a particular condition, treatment, medication, audience or type of healthcare content and you can’t see it above, ask me.

There’s a reasonable chance I’ve written about it before.

And if I haven’t? I’m very good at research.

It’s sort of the job.

Need Something Similar?

If you’re looking through these examples because you need medical content of your own, hello.

I work with healthcare organisations, agencies, publishers, pharmacies, clinics and health-focused businesses on everything from individual articles to large content projects and ongoing support.

You can come to me with a detailed, beautifully organised brief.

You can also come to me with “we have 20 articles that need writing, and everyone is already at capacity.”

I’ve worked with both.

Book a free discovery call and tell me what you’re working on. We can talk through your project, audience, deadlines and what you need from a writer – without turning it into an awkward sales pitch.

Looking for Something a Little Less Medical?

My portfolio isn’t entirely symptoms, medications and clinical research.

I’ve also written blogs, consumer content, product reviews and articles across a range of other industries.
